About Us

Hi, welcome to Langley News Online (theLangOnline). We are a small, community-run blog that covers whats happening right here in Langley, British Columbia. We started this site because we noticed there was a real gap when it came to local news that actually matters to the people who live, work, and raise their families here.

We are not a big media company. We are just locals who care about this community and want to keep people informed. If something is happening in Langley Township or Langley City, we want you to hear about it here first.

What We Cover

We cover a wide range of topics that Langley residents actually care about. Here is a quick look at what you will find on our blog.

Local Government and City Hall

We keep a close eye on what the Township of Langley and the City of Langley are doing. Council meetings, zoning changes, tax decisions, new bylaws. These things effect your daily life, so we try to break them down in plain language. No legal jargon, just what it means for you.

Development, Real Estate, and Growth

Langley is growing fast. Really fast. New subdivisions, condo towers, commercial strips, and road projects seem to pop up every few months. We track development applications, new builds in areas like Willoughby and Murrayville, and what all this growth means for traffic, schools, and green space. A lot of readers tell us this is the stuff they care about most.

Crime, Safety, and the RCMP

People want to know if there’s been a break in on their street or if there is a scam targeting seniors in Aldergrove. We report on Langley RCMP news releases, crime trends, and community safety programs. We try to report this kind of news factually without causing panic.

Schools, Families, and Kids

School District 35 serves tens of thousands of students across Langley. We cover school board decisions, new school openings, special programs, and anything that parents in Langley should know about. From Brookswood to Walnut Grove, if its about your kids and their education, it belongs here.

Local Business and Economy

Small businesses are the backbone of Langley. We spotlight new openings, cover closures, and write about the economic forces shaping the area. From the farms in Fort Langley to the retail strips along 200th Street, local commerce is something we are proud to cover.

Community Events and Things to Do

Langley has great festivals, farmers markets, sports tournaments, and cultural events happening year round. The Langley Cruise and Car Show every summer, the Fort Langley Christmas Market in winter, local hockey and lacrosse. We want people to get out and enjoy this community, so we highlight whats going on.

Environment and the Fraser Valley

Langley sits right in the middle of some beautiful Fraser Valley farmland and green spaces. We write about flooding risks along the Nicomekl and Salmon rivers, air quality during wildfire season, and what local conservation groups are doing to protect the land. These seasonal issues affect Langley residents every single year and we take them seriously.

Why We Do This

Honestly? Because we love Langley. This is a great place to live and it deserves good local journalism. Big news outlets in Vancouver sometimes cover Langley, but it’s usually just the dramatic stuff. We’re here for the everyday stories too, the things that actually shape life in this corner of BC.

We try to be fair, accurate, and useful. We are not here to push a political agenda or to make anyone look bad. Our goal is simple. Give Langley residents the information they need to stay connected to there community.
